2023 Flood Control & Emergency Earthwork | Tulare County, CA
During the 2023 flooding in Tulare County, Sierra General Engineering & Hardscape provided heavy equipment and earthwork support as part of a coordinated response involving Tulare County and multiple contractors.
Our crew mobilized dozers and excavators to help restore and reinforce critical drainage and access infrastructure in flooded areas. Work included rebuilding damaged canals, armoring roadsides with riprap, raising and rebuilding approximately half a mile of roadway, and performing large-scale excavation and grading in saturated conditions.
One of the major portions of the project involved building up approximately one-half mile of roadway by as much as 8 feet to maintain access and improve protection from surrounding floodwater.

Roadway Raising & Access Improvements
A major part of the project involved rebuilding and raising approximately half a mile of roadway by as much as 8 feet. Material was placed, graded, and shaped to improve access through areas affected by flooding and high-water conditions.

Canal & Erosion Protection Work
Our crews also helped rebuild and reshape canals while placing riprap along vulnerable roadside and drainage areas. This work helped reinforce sections exposed to erosion and moving water while supporting the overall flood-control effort.
Emergency Response Capabilities
Sierra General Engineering & Hardscape is available for emergency excavation, grading, flood-control earthwork, drainage work, roadway repair, and heavy-equipment support throughout Tulare County and Central California.
